hints on child training
Mother of EIGHT, avid reader and God fearing woman.... THIS IS A BIBLICALLY BASED book. NOT the BIBLE but a tool of accuracy NOT CONTROL. BUY this book and SKIP 'What The Bible Says About Child Training' Because That book is NOT about what the BIBLE says at all!!!! Oh and for all the 'child abuse' criers---- give it a rest. The bibles' 'spare the rod and spoil the child IS BIBLICAL. CONTROLLING children is NOT. Even the BIBLE tells us that God (the father) DISCIPLINES His children out of love. No, it does NOT advocate spanking FOR teenagers....Hello,,, 'chidren'.
Folks , quit looking for somebody else to provide you with '7easy steps mentality' for raising your children. Yes a book with some insights every now and again is alright BUT otherwise ...quit looking for the answer via shortcuts. TURN TO YOUR BIBLE.

Single Best Parenting Resource
This book is the single best parenting resource I've seen.
I've read it several times; actually, I read it continously.
As others have noted, the English is old and proper, but that's a big part of the charm of the book for me.
It's like sitting and listening to a wise old gentleman/grandfather.....hanging on and soaking up his every word.
I highly recommend it for all parents, regardless of religious background (or no religious background).

Time tested truths for tested parents
Wow! what a refreshing book. This subject has been penned into print by many authors; but Trumbull's technique is one of using Biblical virtues and focusing on the very best child training information. This technique results in simple, easy to understand chapters and a very clear understanding of what our little ones face in everyday life. I read the book once, then twice, there is no finality in finding helpful hints in this book. Who better to write on the subject, as Trumbull himself raised eight children, during a time when virtue and character were elevated to high status. Subjects such as: courtesy, dealing with children's fears, scolding, adding value to a child's Christmas, were all written with compassion. All parents should read the chapter "Never punish a child when angry."

Even in the late 1800's, Trumbull did not resort to spanking until all other efforts had failed. Instead, he urged parents to allow the child to choose between punishment or making the right choice. This, according to Trumbull, is accomplished by becoming a police officer not a judge. Does it work? A resounding, YES! I have changed my training technique and my children are now easier to control.

I highly recommend this reading to all parents and soon to be parents. It will greatly improve your ability to deal with your little "angels", when they test you.

Victory in Christ
Published in Paperback by Christian Literature Crusade (January, 1997)
Author: Charles G. Trumbull

Good Things Come in Small Packages!
This book was required reading for a seminary class, and am I ever glad it was!

The underlying thesis of Trumbull's title is: instead of trying to live the Christian life in your own strength, surrender to Christ and let Him live His life in and through you.

How many times have we failed to heed this wisdom? When we allow Christ to have His way in our lives, we experience total and complete victory over sin and become a continual source of blessing to others.

In my humble opinion, some of the more important points Trumbull mentions are: 1) Christ has the power and responsibility to set us free from sin (our job is to surrender to Christ and let Him have His way with us), 2) Christ does not want us to work for Him, rather, He wants to be our life and work through us in His power, 3) Beware of the counterfeit victory where you try your hardest to live the Christian life instead of letting Christ live His life through you, 4) Stop trying to win the victory and let Christ win it for us! We cannot have victory until we surrender to Christ, 5) Distinguish between the Lord's leading and the devil's distractions, 6) Cultivate interesting and useful hobbies/interests that broaden your Christian perspective, and 7) Do not let the cares of the world and the church cause you to neglect those closest to you (how many times have we heard about this in the Christian and secular world!).

All in all, Trumbull's book is an easy read full of precious gems waiting to be mined. So stop trying to minister to others in your own strength and let Christ minister to others through you so you can experience His victory and others are blessed in the process!

Both vocational Christian workers and lay people will benefit from this read. The non-Christian will be encouraged to consider how a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as the basis of Christianity radically differs from the good works theology of other world religions.

This book is truly life changing!!!!!
Although I had a good understanding of my identity in Christ and the finality of the cross this book truly blessed my life. Every sentence is packed with powerful truth after powerful truth. This is a book you will want to read again and again and share with your friends.

Shows how to achieve victory over the hardest sins.
One of the most influencial books I have ever read. I have given copies to many people. The Lord has used this book to show me the power of the Spirit in my everyday struggles. It has definitely changed my life. I have found freedom from some life-long battles and have discovered that God never intended me to win them in the first place. VERY practical - you can use the concepts while you are reading it. A short powerful book.

Mock Trials : Preparing, Presenting, and Winning Your Case
Published in Paperback by National Institute for Trial Advocacy (March, 2001)
Authors: Steven Lubet and Jill Trumbull-Harris

A must-read for anyone interested in mock trial
While working with my mock trial team at Georgetown University, I urged everyone on the team to buy a copy of this book. Because we didn't have a coach, having some source of authority on numerous issues relating to mock trial was critical. This book fit those needs perfectly. Not only do the authors walk through the basics of a trial, but they also include numerous tips for those already advanced in trial advocacy. The Georgetown team won its division at the 2002 College Mock Trial Nationals, placing 2nd in the country, beating far more experienced and well-coached teams. This book was part of that surprising success. It is a must-read for anyone looking to be more competitive and effective in the courtroom.

The Threshold Covenant
Published in Paperback by Impact Christian Books, Inc. (March, 2000)
Authors: H. Clay Trumbull and William D. Banks

A fine companion to his book "The Blood Covenant"
Once again, Dr. Trumbull shows his capacity for research and his ability to bring what could be an arcane subject to life. This in-depth look at the Threshold Covenant from ancient times around the world to the present day (late 19th Century for Trumbull) is one of the best books written on this subject even though it was first written in the late 1800's. That this book is a true classic is shown by the fact that no one, in the last 150 years, has produced a book equal to it. Excellent resource for understanding this fundamental covernant, the Threshold Covenant

The Blessings of Balance
If your considering this book, then you've probably already read his book, The Blood Covenant. The basic difference between the two is that blood covenant deals with the relationship side of a covenant in which two become one by the shedding of blood. Or in other words, the two covenanting parties enter into an agreement on an equal basis (e.g., what's mine is yours and what's yours is mine). However, a threshold covenant is slightly different in that while it acknowledges the parties as equal, it also brings out the governmental responsibilities of each and establishes a chain of command. For example, in a marriage, which is properly a threshold covenant and not purely a blood covenant as we often confuse, both parties are equal in terms of sharing all things, but different in terms of the responsibilities and roles that they play - and it is in defining these specific roles as husband/father, wife/mother that the threshold covenant emphasizes - an aspect which is generally overlooked by the church at large. And while it may appear that the differences are contradictory, Trumbull illustrates that in fact they are not, but rather serve to strengthen one another if used properly.

100% REAL and very spooky!
I recently ordered a CD-ROM called The UFO Anthology by OvniLab, here at Amazon and it was amazing! So I decided to purchase this audio CD from them also as I am a bIG UFO buff. And again, I was blown away by what I heard. This company has managed to compile and present some of the most authentic, convincing, material on UFO's I haev ever come acrossed, period!

This is the most erie, spooky, real, UFO accounts I have ever heard. And what makes it even more amazing is that it is the REAL police radio and 911 recordings of several police officers, chasing down and then observing not one but several UFOs!

People are always saying wheres the PROOF? Well all i can say is the "Proof" is on these recordings. Awesome job, guys!

Very REAL stuff!!
I cant say enough about how amazing these recordings are! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that these things "UFOs" really exsisted. But I have to say that now after hearing REAL police officers, track and describe the UFO at close range on these dispatch recordings....Im a believer! Wow!

This is Logan's favorite book of all!
My 8 month old son can sit and watch this book as we read it to him over and over without grabbing the pages. The illustrations are very bright and full of contrast - he pays close attention to this book while we read it to him and count the images depicted in the story.

here comes the circus train
My first son loved books, he'd sit for hours and read them on his own, even before his first birthday. This one, however, was always his favorite. I must have read it to him a million times. Then, along came my second son. Being the exact opposite of his brother he never sits down and relaxes for even a moment. With two exceptions, for food or for his train book. From 7 months to 3 years, this book is still a hit!

Blood Covenant
Published in Paperback by Impact Christian Books, Inc. (August, 1983)
Authors: Clay Trumbull and H. Clay Trumbull
Average review score:

The most definitive book on the Blood Covenant available.
This book is based on a three lecture series that Dr. Trumbull delivered on June 16-18 in 1885 to the Episcopal Divinity School in Philadelphia, PA. That no other book in the past 117 years, on the subject of the Blood Covenant, has equalled or surpassed this book in thoroughness or in scholarship is mute testimony to this book's classic position as THE definitive book on the subject of the Blood Covenant. Dr Trumbull traces the origins of the Blood Covenant, as practiced worldwide, to an early Oriental home in ancient human history (p 57). Along the way, he has shown the development of this covenant from a crude form of uniting two humans or a human and a Divine entity in an unbreakabke bond to a highly stylized rite among the peoples of the world. This book is a must for every Pastor or teacher who wishes to understand the very Covenant that is the underpining of the Christian faith.

A classic text in blood covenants
In researching the literature on blood covenants, the subject of my Master's thesis, I was struck by the dearth of scholarly research on this subject. Most books on this subject were rather shallow, with no real depth to them and little in the way of scholarly input. Dr. Trumbull's classic on the subject of the blood covenants was like a breath of fresh spring air in a very stiffling room. Here was the in-depth scholarship so lacking in the other works reviewed. It seems that no one, in the last hundred years or so has been able to out-perform this classic treatment of the blood covenant. It is not easy reading, but is full of the best scholarship I have found anywhere on this subject.

A standard reader for all serious Bible students.
As another wrote, this is not a simple reader. The main reason for this is because the book is over 100 years old and the English is more proper; however, do not let this deter you. This book by Trumbull has long been the standard for concise exploration into the field of covenant-making. Virtually all other books written on this subject have their observations taken from this one. Study this topic long enough and you'll see the commonality. Trumbull's knowledge of Scripture, his first hand experiences, and his communications with other renown researchers have lended themselves to this masterpiece. This man truly lived as he wrote. I would therefore also highly recommend his books The Threshold Covenant and the Covenant of Salt for further study, both recently in publication after many years. He has many others, and if you can find them, they are a treat indeed. So study and do well.
